‘Netsurfen’ is a weekly column in the Financieel Dagblad (FD – Dutch Financial Times) and on the FD website about new media in which some Internet professionals are asked about their favourite websites and the story behind them regarding their background, activities. “Instead of selling thirty-second commercials to radio and TV, BMW chose to make short feature films of around eight to ten minutes. Research had shown that around 80 percent of BMW buyers first looked at the site before going to the dealer. Advertising via the Internet would therefore pay off.”
